In 2003, Baccarat called on Starck for the creation of their new head office. His concept was “a diamond discovered among the ashes”. Philippe Starck impertinently revisits the grand Baccarat traditions, already shaken up by the success of the head office at the Place des Etats-Unis and its now famous black crystal chandelier.

This chandelier was displayed for the first time at the Maison Baccarat boutique in Moscow, Russia. The resplendent design, whimsically conceived of by the ever-inventive Philippe Starck mixes Clear crystal, pink crystal and mist crystal alongside frosted ornaments.

This particular color concept makes the Baccarat chandelier of appears “unfocused”, evoking the effect of an out-of-focus camera lens, which in turn creates a stunning optical illusion. A romantic and poetic reinterpretation of Baccarat’s iconic Zenith chandelier, the “Unfocused” version also boasts a simplified silhouette.
